The lights buzz like dying insects and then spark with bursts of sudden excitement...midnight has seized the land, and you wonder just what you have happened upon.
A cluster of tents is settled in the distance, and the muffled roar of voices can be heard from the largest of the structures...excited and longing tones that spark your curiosity and urge your feet forward across the stretch of open land.
Lifting back the thick drape-of-an-entrance you gaze upon, perhaps, the strangest as well as the most beautiful thing you have ever seen: people. Hundreds of them, seated elegantly along the edges of a circular stage, their eyes eager and lusting for some sort of show.
You notice a flicker of movement from the back of the enclosure, and out walks a single figure, clad like a king, you think...as though he is about to lead a strange dream out from the shadows...And then it happens. Like an explosion of color, they leap out from the folds of material with faces painted and expressionless, their bodies pulled into what appear to be second skins of vibrant hues. They move unlike anything you have ever seen, yet somehow, you can't tear your eyes away. It's like a dance, in a way...between acrobats and clowns, performers and human-sized puppets.
Your body is now frozen...under the sheer spell of the sight, yet oddly enticed...but you can't possibly just stand there, can you?
What will you do? Who will you become?...You will never know until you push forward amid the excited crowd and join the midnight masquerade.
